STAYCATION 2020!

My husband, Dan, and I did not travel far this summer. Last year, we toured Europe.

What a difference 365 days and a pandemic make.

We decided to take a Staycation, which included a series of day trips, spent outdoors, all close to home.

Because our summer wasn't filled with tons of extra activities and far away travel, we were also able to meet up with my brother's family for some social distance hiking.

Staycation Day 1: Stack Rock, Boise

I will be the first to admit I had a tiny bit of trouble on part of this hike, due to my crippling fear of heights. But I made it!

Also, this hike, listed as a 9-mile out-and-back on all of our apps, somehow turned into 12-mile trek for us. I think we did it wrong.

Staycation Day 2: Bear Basin, McCall

Bear Basin is one of my favorite mountain biking trail systems . . . because I know I can do it and not chicken out!

Staycation Day 3: Charcoal Gulch, Idaho City

We discovered this fun day hike in Idaho City, even though we got a little lost trying to find the trailhead. And talk about social distancing. We saw NO ONE, just the way we like it!

We did see this guy though.

Staycation Day 4: Ritter Island, Thousand Springs State Park

The next few days of Staycation 2020 included hikes with the nephews. Get ready for lots of pictures since they are so cute. #sorrynotsorry

Our first trail was in the Hagerman area.

Staycation, Day 5: Hyatt Hidden Lakes, Boise

Then we introduced the nephews to one of our cool nature hikes in Boise, five minutes from our house.

Wild Kratts: Activating . . . maybe Frog Power?

Staycation Day 6: The Zoo, Boise

Then we celebrated Desmond's birthday at Zoo Boise.

He's five today!

Owl Eyes

Tired . . .

Staycation Day 7: Box Canyon and Niagara Springs, Thousand Springs State Park

This was a bonus hike the weekend after Dan's and my vacation time was over. But I'm still going to count it!
