People Watchin' on the Greenbelt

I stayed in town for most of the summer, aside from a few short getaways to my favorite mountain towns. So, I spent a lot of time running on my local greenbelt and people watching and judging them, of course.

I mean, why would you wear cologne while running (ahem, man in the black Nike shirt)? It's not doing you any favors while you're sweating, and it's probably just attracting the mosquitos. West Nile Virus has been detected in Boise this year, you know.

Also, I don't love it when people (sans earbuds) blast music on their phones while on a walk.

While jogging one morning with my husband, Dan, I accidentally said "Cheater Bikes!" quite loud when two e-bikes zoomed by us.

"Oops, I meant to filter out my inner monologue," I said.

"I was thinking the same thing though," Dan said.

Of course, there were sights that made me happy as well.

One woman I ran across was wearing a shirt that read, I 💕 the Gulf of Mexico, and I loved that. #iykyk

At times, I even gain some wisdom.

One older biker found me stretching out after a run and asked, "Are you practicing ballet?“

"No, just keeping my hips lubricated. They've been getting a little stiff after jogging these days, " I told him.

He nodded sagely, "Aging sucks. But if you keep moving it sucks less.”

Well said, old man, well said.
